Fully aware of the rising costs of
musical production I have written a piece that can be staged both
inexpensively and unpretentiously without sacrificing any of its
artistic merit. The musical is called DAVID based upon the life of
the well-known biblical figure from his days as a young shepherd boy
to his ascension as King of Israel.
DAVID is very versatile. Sets and
costumes need not be elaborate, cast size can be kept relatively
small, and the orchestration is not needlessly complex. The show is
approximately 1-1/2 to 2 hours long.
DAVID can appeal to different types of
audiences. Children and young people, for instance, would especially
enjoy David’s fight with Goliath and The Freedom Song which
immediately follows, as well as various military marches and battle
scenes. Adults could appreciate the poignancy of David’s
relationship with Jonathan and its tragic consequences. And, of
course, many would delight in a musical rendition of this popular
biblical story.
I hope you will take the time to
examine the work carefully. Within the LIBRETTO are samples of some
of the music as well as the orchestrated accompaniments for The
Freedom Song, The March, and I Thank Him. Please
do not hesitate to write
for any additional information.
